Generally, we are traveling on the roads and suddenly we see any milestone showing the distance to our destination. Do you observe that it is containing some color strip as well like Yellow, Green, Orange, Blue or Black? Each of these colors having different significance. Today we are telling you what different colors of milestones signify.
Yellow Color Strip
The yellow strip signifies that you are traveling on a National Highway. The yellow color strips can only use to reflect the distances in form of milestones on National Highways only. It also contains a number on this color strip which signifies the national highway number. These highways come under the control of central government. The central ministry of Road and Transport will be responsible for the maintenance of such highways.
Green Color Strip
The Green Strip signifies that you are traveling on a State Highway. The Green color strips on the milestones can only be used to reflect the state highways. The state ministry of Road and Transport has been responsible for the maintenance of such highways.
Blue or Black Color Strip
The Blue or Black strips signifies that you are traveling over the road which will be going to meet with a City or a big district. Or it signifies that road comes under the control of that city or district.
Orange Color Strips
The orange color strips signify that you are traveling over the road which has been constructed under Prime-Minister Road Scheme. The milestones containing orange color strips signifies the rural roads.
