There are several companies or organization in the world who are having amassing collection of data. Here we cover the top 10 largest databases in the world.<\/p>\n

Library of Congress (LC)
\nThe Library of Congress contains 130 million items. In an estimation, the text portion of Library of Congress is more than 20 TB of data. By the number and facts try to understand that they are having 130 million items including books, photographs, maps, etc. More than 29 million books, around 10,000 new items added every day. The shelves length are around 530 miles. They are having 5 million digital documents and 20 terabytes of text data. Isn\u2019t amazing!<\/p>\n

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
\nCIA had provided a portion of the database to the public include the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). They contain each and every information in their database. The library of FOIA is increasing with the speed of more than 100 article from various fields and countries. By the number facts, 100 FOIA items added each month in FOIA database. They are having comprehensive statistics on more than 250 countries and entities. Apart from that FOIA is having an unknown number of classified information.<\/p>\n

Amazon
\nAmazon is the world largest E-Commerce store contains the records of 59 million active customer\u2019s information. Amazon also contains 250000 full-length textbooks. Amazon is having 42 TB of a database which sounds very less. For your information, 42 terabytes of data would convert to 37 trillion forum posts. Now seems bigger!<\/p>\n

YouTube
\nYouTube has amassed largest video library and hence the biggest databases in the world. By the number facts, 65000 videos added each day. On the other hand, 100 million of videos watched per day. The 60% of all video watched online. For your reference if 65,000 videos per day X 30 days per month = 1,950,000 videos per month; 1 terabyte = 1,048,576 megabytes. If we assume that each video has a size of 1MB, YouTube would expect to grow 1.86 terabytes next month. Similarly, if we assume that each video has a size of 10MB, YouTube would expect to grow 18.6 terabytes next month.<\/p>\n

Choice Point
\nChoicePoint is in the business of acquiring personal information about the American population contains their addresses, emails, phone numbers, driving records, criminal histories, etc.By the number fact, they have 250 terabytes of personal data contains information on 250 million people.<\/p>\n

Sprint
\nSprint is one of the world’s largest telecommunication companies. They offer mobile services to more than 53 million subscribers. By the number fact, Sprint database is spread across 2.85 trillion database rows. Sprint has 365 million call detail records processed per day. At peak hours Sprint have to manage 70,000 call detail record insertions per second.<\/p>\n

Google
\nThere is not much known about the exact true size of Google’s database. As Google is subjected to 91 million searches per day, which accounts for close to 50% of all internet search activity. Google stores each and every search record into its database. In terms of internet Google is a King.<\/p>\n

AT&T
\nThe United States’ oldest telecommunications company AT&T maintains one of the world’s biggest databases. By the number fact, the largest volume of data in one unique database is 312 terabytes and the second largest number of rows in a unique database 1.9 trillion, which comprises AT&T’s extensive calling records.<\/p>\n

National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC)
\nThe second largest database in the world belongs to the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center in Oakland, California. By the number fact, they have 2.8 petabytes of data which has been operated by 2,000 computational scientists.<\/p>\n

World Data Centre for Climate
\nA 35 million euro supercomputer operated by the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and German Climate Computing Centre, The World Data Centre for Climate (WDCC) is the largest database in the world. By the number fact, they have 220 terabytes of web data and 6 petabytes of additional data.<\/p>\n
