You should have to maintain the relevancy of the image along with the text provided to it. It will also increase its visibility.
Add a caption to the image:
We have to add the caption to the images, it will be too much beneficial for us. It is also useful for us as till the images do not display its caption is displaying. One more thing you can add alternate text to the images.
Image sitemap:
You can also provide the image sitemap, it will helpful for providing us to improve its visibility over the internet.
Other features
You can provide backlinks, tags on the images so it will become more searchable.
